The following is provided for information purposes only. If you believe you have a medical condition requiring treatment, please consult a qualified physician.

Two years ago, my doctor ordered routine blood tests as a part of my yearly check-up, and the lab mistakenly measured 17-alpha hydroxyprogesterone (17-OHP). Although I am an adult male, my 17-OHP level is in the prepubertal range without evidence of a clinical disease.

17-OHP is considered to be a precursor of both testosterone (T) and cortisol. It is rarely, if ever, measured in men, and is primarily evaluated during pregnancy, or during the diagnostic workup for female infertility and congenital adrenal hyperplasia in children. If a man’s T level is normal, 17-OHP is assumed to be normal. Although my testosterone (T) level is normal, 17-OHP is abnormal and my ratio of 17-OHP to T is 0.02. For men with normal testicular function the ratio is 0.24 +/- 0.08 (J Clin Endocrinol Metab. 1978 Nov;47(5):1144-7; Basal and human chorionic gonadotropin-stimulated 17 alpha-hydroxyprogesterone and testosterone levels in Klinefelter’s syndrome).

I’ve been reading about the the many benefits of taking resveratrol…so, it’s very tempting to purchase this supplement that is promising the possiblity of weight loss, anti-aging properties, and a high amount of antioxidants. ANYTHING that you know about it is welcome in your response. I currently take 10mg of Lexapro daily, should there be any concern regarding drug interactions(specifically Lexapro)? Any of you taking resveratrol, please give me your comments…have you notices some positive results?

Hey everyone. I have an issue with my 11-year-old sister. My mother just informed me that she admitted her into the hospital for cutting herself and possible bipolar disorder. My sister has always had ADHD but from what I’ve heard, it has became worse over the years. She has been in therapy and recently, the therapist prescribed her some sort of anti-psychotic meds to counter the ADHD and possible bipolar. From what I was told, the meds my sister are on are typically not prescribed to anyone under the age of 16, yet, the doctor said they should be fine. Two weeks ago, my sister started cutting herself and talking about suicide. Suicidal thoughts is a huge side-effect with this medicine. Supposedly, even the pharmacists had to make sure that my sister was supposed to take those particular meds due to their extreme side-effects.

So, I guess I’m just asking anyone out there who personally suffers from ADHD and/or depression or knows someone who suffers, and is a minor like my sister, can you give me some advice on what meds might be good to consider and also what might be some possible disorders my sister might be suffering from … something that might not be obvious to doctors or a psychiatrist. Thank you.

Aggressive when it comes to food?

A few days ago, when I went to the countryside, my grandfather found a little puppy laying somewhere in the further corner of the front yard. I don’t think he is older than a month and from his appearance I would say it’s somehow related to a golden retriever. But as he’s still young, I would rather keep silent.
When we found him he was full of fleas. I’ve never seen a dog with so many fleas before. We gave him an anti-flea bath and one problem was out.
We soon noticed that he wasn’t using his left hind leg. I concluded that the person who left him in our yard must have thrown him over the fence (which is like 1.70 meters tall). It isn’t a severe injury, we haven’t seen any blood and he started using it after one day.

Overall, he seemed to be a nice, cuddly puppy. Until I saw him seating some crap from between the grass and I grabbed him gently from there by his front leg, trying to make him spit out what he was just chewing. I noticed, shocked, that he started growling furiously and barking at me while biting my hand. Of course, it didn’t hurt almost at all. But I’m afraid that this aggressivity with the food may come dangerous when he grows up and someone tries to get the food away from him.

New anti aging products that work. Any ideas?

I want a new anti aging product that will help clear the wrinkles on my face. I have been searching but I haven’t been able to come across any new anti aging product that I like. If anyone knows of any new anti aging product that will work effectively, please I would like to know.

Hi everyone,

Ok so first I will say I have a doctors appt for tomorrow afternoon – so I am in no way going to self diagnose or switch meds by myself. I just have a question for anyone who has struggled with severe depression and anxiety – or a mild case of bi-polar.

I have been on/or at least tried most anti-depressants. Prozac worked great for years when I was age 16-21, then it seemed to stop working well.

Is anti aging face cream really effective?

I am kind of worried about the wrinkles on my face. I heard anti aging face creams are effective in combating wrinkles. My question is; are they really effective? If anti aging face creams are not effective, what other options are available?
