Anti-social and lazy hamster help?
My Teddybear Chandler was active enough when I first got him about two months ago. Now he’s fallen into a few bad habits.
Firstly, he puts all of the bedding in his removable hamster ball, so he couldn’t get any exercise if he wanted to unless I clean it out daily.
Secondly, he’s become sooo lazy and apathetic, just chilling out in his ball all day and all night without running.
Thirdly, even when I offer him a treat or two he just sits there and stares at me.
What’s wrong with him? And I don’t believe he’s sick, because there’s no symptoms of wet tail or a cold. And I’m not sure of his age because those idiots at the pet store only told me he’s a couple months.

I think that regularly handling would solve this problem as your hamster would be able to get used to you. You might want to let him run around in a safe secure room so that he is less likely to just sit there. After each time you put him back in his cage, give him a hamster treat or piece of his’ favourite fruit/veg so that he knows that he has been good and he will then realise that he will be rewarded for good behaviour.
He might also be overweight so try not to overfeed him as this will contribute to his laziness. If he is only a few months old then he should be fairly active, my hamster is nearly 3 months old and loves to run around every day.
If you are still having this problem I would get him checked over by a vet to make sure he has no underlying problems,
I hope this helps
Good Luck
i think ur hamster is just lazy one of my syrian hamsters mojo never goes in his wheel the only things he does are eat sleep and poo. But as long as he has extra exercise in his ball he is alright so i recommend that you do that just take him out in his ball and just let him roll around your house and make sure he has a well balanced diet.
hope this helps good luck
