Recently (within a half a year, or so I’ve noticed) I’ve had a thinning of my top, frontmost hairs. I’m a 19-year-old female. I will be going to the doctor soon, but would like some opinions for piece of mind. I’ll give a bit of information to help:
My dad is 64 with more hair than he can handle (he looks like a dandelion). My mother has always had thin hair, but not in patches..just naturally thin. I definitely have my dad’s hair..his is wavy, thick and auburn (like mine) and hers is thin, blonde, and straight..so I’m really not thinking it’s genetics. No female nor male in my entire family have had thinning hair at a young age.
My first thought was something to do with hormones. I’ve had a struggle with slight premenstrual cystic acne (small nodules that wouldn’t heal for 3 months) but I’ve since controlled it with Bactrim antibiotics. Maybe there’s a correlation between my cystic acne (some say overproduction of androgens) and my hair loss? What symptoms would a female have if they overproduced androgens?
My other guess was lack of nutrients..I’m a vegetarian who doesn’t really eat any vegetables. I’m naturally thin, but not too thin, so I don’t think it’s a weight issue..but I really don’t eat a balanced meal (I usually have burritos and spaghetti and ramen). I try to take supplements and drink something call a Green Drink but I’m not sure it’s enough.
My final idea was that it was either inflammation from dandruff (since I was young I had this, but I thought it went away..my scalp would only flake if I scraped at it and I began to think this might have been from conditioner build-up), folliculitis, or some other scalp bacterial/fungal infection. My main reason for thinking this is that the affected hair follicles sting and ache a little any time I flip my hair from one side to the other. It’s really sensitive, only slightly painful, and I feel that the slightest touch could shed some hairs. Also, the other day I noticed a build-up of scaly dry skin that I had never seen before. I’ve been trying anti-drandruff shampoo for 4 days but I’m not sure whether this is helping. These symptoms seem indicative of an external, dermatic rather than an internal issue (such as those I listed above). Would I get this sort of tingly/irritated feeling if it was hormones/my antibiotics/malnourishment? I always thought folliculitis and infections would cause obvious flaking, sores, redness, etc…
Just hoping for some input. I really hope this hair loss isn’t permanent once I solve it
. Thanks!
I had bloodwork done a few months ago:
-normal Thyroid hormone levels
-slight Vitamin D deficiency
-slightly anemic (something like a 10.9 where 11 was normal)

Had an left testicle removed due to sermonia last year and a silicon testie put in place which is comfortable enough but now they need to do a biopsy right testie to check for pre cancer cells how painful is this as was in awful pain with the main op in crotch.
Also if the tests for sperm count came back negative or there wasnt any sperm atall before the op and after then guess it means that am infertile.
Its not heritary sure of that, it could be there never was sperm it could be down to smoking, abusive drinking, now controlled or anti depressants venlafaxine 150mg taking for five years now.
What really want to find out is can it be possible for me to produce sperm again, with the right drugs or supplements etc or is it just a worthless cause.
Its not to horrific as not wanting kids now probably in future but given got only one testie will this never be possible.
Twenty eight now and had a testie pulled down from abdomen at young age and this is probably a major cause to the serinoma or tumour that was found in right testie.
Got chemo 2 hours worth coming up as well after bi opsy, then done and dusted hopefully it be nice to know when this is over if theres something that can come out of all this like the sperm etc
Also semen is low not alot now so will need hormone replacement will that bring levels up again

Migraines? I’ve suffered from them since age 6…. with time they’ve gotten worse. I HATE taking medications, specially pain killers. I’ve already become immune to most anti-inflammatory medications like motrin and Naproxen… and i refuse to take narcotics like Vicodin or Opiates like Percocet. I’ve taken them before when my migraines were ER worthy and got me a CT scan and a spinal tap… but I’m talking maybe once a year…
For the last few years I’ve controlled them with caffeine… its the only thing that seems to help keep them at a manageable level… however, due to some new medical concerns, I’ve cut caffeine from my system, so my migraines are back worse than ever for now, dealing with withdrawals. Is there anything else i can do? Supplements that work? I already take a daily multivitamin and Omega3 supplements… But is there anything else out there that can help?? Any other home remedies to try?? PLEASE help me.. Cause life is unbearable right now…
Thanks.. I do.. I drink a ton of water. I always have. Well over a gallon of water a day.
