It’s the trans-resveratrol content that’s important. Trans-resveratrol is the bio-active component that promotes the beneficial effects. Resveratrol often contains emodine which can cause gas/bowel issues because it’s a laxative. The better suppliments have low emodine levels and high trans-resveratrol levels. Not being able to see the trans-resveratrol content vs. other related compounds on the labels before buying makes me shy away. With this one the trans-res level is 75 mg out of 150. What’s the other 75???

This is in response to the person who says there’s little resveratrol in this product. There’s, in fact, 250mg of resveratrol. It also contains the whole herb, Japanese knotweed, from which resveratrol and trans-resveratrol are derived. The whole herb has many benefits that resveratrol alone doesn’t have. If you’re taking this product for bacterial infections, including Lyme disease, then you want to be sure to use the whole herb (knotweed).
This is from Steven Buhner’s book Healing Lyme:
“It should be stessed that while resveratrol does amazing things, it, by itself, is not sufficient in treating Lyme disease. The whole herb is crucial. Other constituents of the plant, such as emodin, polydatin, and trans-resveratrol have all been found to be ‘wonderdrugs’ in their own right. As usual, depth research is showing that the plant constituents possess broad spectrum actions and synergistic actions that the single chemicals do not. As a whole herb it is much more powerful than any constituent used alone.”
This product uses the whole herb, knotweed, and is 50% resveratrol — which yields 250mg of *pure* resveratrol.
